Scotty Moore, Guitarist For Elvis Presley, Dies Aged 84

Scotty MooreFormer guitarist for Elvis Presley, Scotty Moore has unfortunately passed away at the age of 84.

Born in Tennessee, Moore began playing the guitar at the age of 8. In 1954, he signed a musical partnership with Elvis Presley and, along with Bill Black on bass, recorded their first single That’s All Right (Mama).

Moore formed the group Blue Moon Boys with Black and drummer DJ Fontana, and the group played with Presley on several songs including Heartbreak Hotel and Hound Dog. Moore also appeared in several of Presley’s movies such as Jailhouse Rock and Loving You.

Aside from Presley, Moore also worked with many other artists such as Ringo Star and Jeff Back. In 2000, Moore was awarded a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Moore was reportedly in poor health before his death but no official cause of death has currently been released.
