The Prince Has Returned

Prince

PrinceYou might remember Prince from such songs as When Doves Cry and Purple Rain. He’s now returned with the release of his new album HITNRUN on the streaming service known as Tidal.

Jay Z had previously started out Tidal in March with some big names in music including his wife Beyonce, Rhianna, Nicki Minaj and Madonna. The idea behind this new service was to provide artists with a larger percentage of the royalties and Prince has seemingly joined suit.

Prince’s new album was released in two phases; Phase One was released in September, also on Tidal. According to Prince’s PR people, the twelve songs on the album took almost four years to produce.

Phase Two of the album includes reworked versions of previously released songs Baltimore and Screwdriver.

Earlier in July, Prince pulled his discography from Spotify and announced that his new album would only be available through Tidal, stating that it offered him “a non-restrictive arrangement.”
