Beliebers beware. The pop superstar has threatened to make his Instagram private after negative comments targeting Sofia Richie overwhelms her Instagram page.
Justin Bieber and the 17-year-old model have been inseparable over the past few weeks and she has even been rumoured to be his girlfriend. Regardless, he’s not happy about the lack of respect his fans have been giving her.
“I’m gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don’t stop the hate this is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn’t be so mean to people that I like,” Bieber captioned under a photo of himself sitting beside Richie.
All I have to say is, thank God Bieber is taking action.
The daughter of singer Lionel Richie has had her Instagram flooded with spiteful comments, ranging from snake emojis to harsh words such as, “You barely know Justin and he’s all about you. We’ve been here for 8 yrs & he’s putting US down for your irrelevant hoe ass,” and “Jelena Forever.”
It seems like fans have a harder time letting go of their favourite singer’s past relationship than they do. You can’t stop overzealous fans who think they ‘own’ their favourite celebrities but I think Bieber has taken the right step to reminding people that mindless hate is stupid.
I just hope his fans get the message.
