Ellen DeGeneres Landed in Sydney Australia

Ellen Degeneres

Ellen DegeneresAfter many delays Ellen DeGeneres has finally arrived at Sydney Airport and been greeted by a roaring crowd of cheers, wolf-whistles and the Qantas choir singing the Men at Work classic Down Under.

DeGeneres, her wife Portia and mother Betty were clearly pleased with the warm reception. Ellen broke into an impromptu dance routine as screaming fans became overwrought with emotion – some burst into tears, while others simply sang along. One fan was so overwrought she fainted as Ellen arrived, and was almost trampled by the heaving media pack.

Fans travelled up to two hours to get to the airport, many waving placards, giant stuffed animals and inflatable Nemo balloons, in recognition of DeGeneres’ role in the animated film, much of it was also set in Sydney.

The talk show queen’s Qantas A380 had been specially renamed after the star for her flight, with her entourage all soaking the delights of first class, including a specially prepared vegan menu by chef, Neil Perry.

The group was quickly whisked away from the airport through a tight media pack and taken to their hotel, believed to be the Intercontinental.

Ellen’s planning a big day in Sydney on Saturday and is expected to materialise at various locations around the city.
