The Brumbies confirmed through their website that Christian Lealiifano, who has also represented Australia playing for the Wallabies, was diagnosed with leukaemia on Saturday morning.
The Brumbies club issued a short statement explaining that Lealiifano had suffered a brief illness and is now in hospital seeking further treatment. They stated that it was too early to tell the true nature of Lealiifano’s treatment.
This was followed by a statement from the Australian Rugby Union, wishing Lealiifano a speedy recovery.
Lealiifano has played 117 matches for the Brumbies as well as 19 tests for the Wallabies. The 28-year-old celebrated the birth of his first child earlier this year.
