While Donald Glover has been quite involved in the movie scene with his short role in The Martian and his mysterious upcoming role in Spider-Man: Homecoming, his musical alter ego Childish Gambino has been quite absent as of late.
In the midst of speculation over his future music career, he tweeted a link for a free mobile app called PHAROS back in mid-June.
The app featured a countdown with choral music playing in the background and an UFO type object that crashed into earth to reveal a trio of West Coast shows at Joshua Tree, California.
Gambino followed this up with $99 tickets, which were released for pre-sale on June 24 along with a tweet stating that these would be the only performances in 2016.
Purchases of tickets were followed with a guidebook with twelve slides and the possibility of an upcoming LP, which would be a follow-up to Gambino’s hit album Because the Internet back in 2013.
