The Super Bowl is no doubt one of the most important days of the year, especially from an advertisers point of view. It’s a day that gathers millions to choose teams and watch brutal battles until only one team remains victorious. It makes sense that they choose to kick off with a promo of Captain America: Civil War – another upcoming rivalry and Marvel’s answer to the Super Bowl.
Unseen voices call out, “United… We… Stand” and “Divided… We… Fall.” The voices are spoken by a large crowd (enough to fill a football stadium) and the chants are incredibly relevant, linking the movie and the NFL annual championships closely together.
The teaser that aired last November shows the tension between Captain America, played by Chris Evans and Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr. who find themselves on opposite teams, fighting each other in an effort to preserve what they believe is right. The movie also focuses on The Winter Soldier a.k.a Bucky Barnes, played by Sebastian Stan. Bucky had been childhood friends with Captain America while he was still known as puny Steve Rogers and was experimented on during WWII. The fight definitely promises to be intense.
On the left side of the screen, we have #TeamIronMan featuring Black Widow, The Vision, War Machine and new recruit Black Panther. While on the right side, we have #TeamCap featuring the Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The teaser creates a great hype to what promises to be a fantastic movie filled with not only action, but a great storyline.
It’s definitely teasing, featuring things like Tony Stark’s shiny gadget (which proves to be very useful) and an appearance from your friendly neighbour Spider-Man, now played by Tom Holland.
Call yourselves lucky Aussies because Captain America: Civil War opens in cinemas on April 29, approximately a week before our friends in the USA.
