The 2016 Academy Country Music Awards

The 2016 Academy Country Music Awards

The 2016 Academy Country Music AwardsThe ACMAs kicked off on Sunday night and one name rang clear through the room; Chris Stapleton, who has been dominating the Country Music scene for the past five months.

Stapleton took home four awards at the event for Male Vocalist, New Male Vocalist, Song of the Year for “Nobody to Blame” and Album of the Year for Traveller.

The 37-year-old country music star’s wins overshadowed what is meant to be the biggest prize of the night, Entertainer of the Year. That prize went to Jason Aldean who gave an emotional acceptance speech.

Other highlights of the night included co-hosts Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley turning their opening monologue into a Stapleton love-fest.

Of the performances of the night, Katy Perry and Dolly Parton took the gold with their medley of Parton’s classic hits Jolene, Coat of Many Colours and 9 to 5.

Miranda Lambert also shined bright, performing three times over the three hour event and taking home the Female Vocalist award for the sixth year in a row.
